I am Vina from Palawan and my husband Gerry is from Leyte. We met because we worked in a factory in Manila. We became a boyfriend and girlfriend and after a year we decided to move in together in a house, in short we rented a house. We were happy and after a few months we were blessed with a healthy baby boy. Gerry worked hard to earn a living for our family but his salary was really not enough for us, especially since our son was sick. So Gerry decided to apply abroad to make our lives easier. I agreed because it was also for our future.
My husband and I decided that we would go to Palawan before he went abroad. That way my husband could be sure that we were in good shape even though he was far away. A few weeks after Gerry took us to Palawan, he flew to New Zealand, where he worked as a pipe fitter. He called us everyday and sent us monthly allowances, that’s when I could tell that our life had become easier. I no longer had to worry about where to get money when my child got sick and when he didn’t have milk I could easily buy it. After a year, we were able to build our own house and I built a piggery to support ourselves.
After two years abroad of my husband, I noticed that his feelings for me were getting distant and he rarely called me. If he did call, it was because he had a lot of work or was sleepy. That’s when I was surprised because at first he wasn’t like that to me but because I was understanding, I just let it go. Until a few weeks later, someone messaged me with a dummy account, saying he was a concerned citizen who cared about me, he just wanted to say that my husband had another woman abroad who was living under the same roof.
I felt so much pain at that time. I called my husband and asked him if it was true that he had traded me for another woman. At first he denied it but later he also told the truth. He said that he had been with his mistress for a long time and that he loved her. I asked him to choose between the two of us, but he choose his mistress over us and his child. I did nothing to the decision of my husband. It so much pain for me but I endured it for my child.
I continued with our life, even though my husband and I were no longer together, he provided support for our child. As for me, I continued my piggery and made it grow. After a while, I was able to build a small grocery store. I was busy with my business, even though I had a lover but I did not entertain them because I did not want to be hurt again.
Five years later one day I was surprised because a man came to our house and it was my husband. My husband who left us for another woman. He came home because he said he wanted to apologize to me for the things he had done for our marriage. He said his mistress had left him and gone with another man. Now he came back to fix our family. My love for my husband has not disappeared so I accepted him back. Now we are living happily here in Palawan and my husband has not returned abroad. We just worked together to run our small shop and piggery.
